Biography

Adv. Albert Lema is a seasoned Advocate with over 10 years of experience in litigation, dispute resolution and legal advisory practice. He has built a strong practice in commercial litigation, labour and employment law, corporate advisory, banking and finance, capital markets, regulatory compliance, land law, mining law, intellectual property, criminal law and general civil litigation.

He regularly represents clients before the High Court of Tanzania, the Court of Appeal of Tanzania, the Commission for Mediation and Arbitration, the Mining Commission, and other courts, tribunals and regulatory bodies. His practice combines strong courtroom advocacy, strategic legal thinking and practical commercial understanding, particularly in complex and high-value disputes.

Adv. Lema has advised clients on capital market transactions, including Initial Public Offerings, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance and transaction documentation. He has also conducted numerous legal due diligence assignments for corporate clients, investors and institutions, covering corporate status, land ownership, regulatory compliance, contractual obligations, employment matters, litigation exposure and transaction risks.

He further provides company secretarial and corporate support services, including company incorporation, preparation and filing of corporate documents, maintaining corporate records, advising on statutory compliance, assisting with business licensing, and supporting clients in meeting regulatory requirements before relevant government authorities.

His experience further extends to mining and natural resources law, where he advises clients on mining rights, compensation claims, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. He has represented clients before the Mining Commission and courts in matters involving mining operations, land access, compensation and regulatory obligations.

Adv. Lema has also handled a wide range of land disputes, including ownership claims, boundary disputes, overlapping titles, unlawful demolition, trespass, compensation claims and land-related disputes. In addition, he advises and represents clients in intellectual property matters, including copyright protection, copyright infringement claims and related court proceedings.

In criminal law, Adv. Lema advises clients on criminal liability, criminal investigations, risk management and defence strategy. He also represents clients in criminal proceedings before courts of law.

Before joining Lawgical Attorneys, Adv. Lema served as a Junior Partner at CRB Africa Legal, where he gained extensive experience in litigation, commercial advisory work and complex dispute resolution. He is known for his practical approach, careful case analysis, strong drafting skills and ability to develop legal strategies that respond to both legal and commercial realities.

He is also a co-author of Getting the Deal Through: Banking Regulation in Tanzania, 2016.
